Race timing with your phone, no chips and no timing company.
Turn any phone into a timing point. Trigger the start in real time, create unlimited split or checkpoints, take the times at the finish, capture runners who arrive in a bunch and publish live results. Have participants get an automatic email with their provisional result the moment they cross the finish line. No expensive hardware, nothing to install (each volunteer opens the app from their link), and no lost times if the signal drops mid-race.
Timing a race properly shouldn't cost a fortune or take hours of work.
What worries anyone putting on a community race:
Chip timing is expensive and eats the whole budget of a community race.
With pen and stopwatch it takes hours to get results out, and mistakes are easy.
When several runners arrive together, there's no time to write them all down.
Up in the hills or out in the country you lose coverage and everything gets complicated.
This module solves all four: you do the timing yourself with a phone, fast, error-free and without losing times even if the signal drops mid-race.
Everything you can do
Start, splits and finish
Create as many checkpoints as you want (5K, 10K, finish…), recording the time and the ranking at each one.
Start trigger
Set the real start time with the gun from the phone itself, so your average paces line up perfectly and everything adds up to the second.
Bunch capture
Several runners at once? Freeze the time, calmly type in every bib in the group and save them all on that same time.
Live results
Every entry updates that checkpoint's ranking right away. Your team and the public follow it in real time.
Favourites and live alerts
Spectators mark their runners as favourites and get a notification on their phone when they cross the finish. They can filter the tracking to see only their own, and for those who haven't reached a point yet a «Waiting for …» line appears. More excitement for families and followers.
If the signal drops, you lose nothing
With the screen already open, if coverage cuts out your marks are saved on the phone and sent on their own the moment it's back. The screen is featherweight and each mark is a few bytes: it keeps going where heavier tools grind to a halt.
What you'll use it for
🏃 Community races and trails with no budget for chips
Do the timing yourself with two or three phones and your volunteers. Professional results without the cost of an outside company.
🚦 Controlled starts
Use the start trigger on our mobile tool to tell the whole team the exact second the race got under way.
⏱️ Create and run as many split points as you need, no limits
Put checkpoints at 5K, 10K, 15K… or wherever you like, to offer live tracking and add some drama to the race for everyone following it.
👣 Finish lines with mass arrivals
In community races whole packs come in together: with bunch capture nobody slips through.
🏔️ Events up in the hills with on-and-off coverage
Trail and mountain races where the signal comes and goes: open the screen at the start and, if it later drops, keep marking just the same — the times are saved and sent on their own once it's back. And if a point is completely cut off, you enter those times by hand afterwards from the panel.
🤝 Several volunteers, all in sync
Each checkpoint can use its own phone; they all feed the same event without getting in each other's way.
Built for race day
- ✓ Any phone can be authorised. Send each volunteer their own QR or personal link to authorise it and let them cover the checkpoint you assigned. All they have to do is open the link you generate for them from the app.
- ✓ Several points and volunteers at once, all in sync on the same event.
- ✓ Finish times go straight to your event's public results, to the second.
- ✓ Automatically sends the runner an email with their provisional result the moment they cross the line.
- ✓ Couldn't catch the bib? Record the time and assign it later, no problem.
- ✓ Mark the race as finished and every volunteer's phone locks, so nothing gets changed by accident.
It's this easy
Create your checkpoints (start, splits, finish).
Hand out the link or QR to your volunteers.
Each one taps in the bibs as the runners go past.
The results are built and published automatically.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need chips or any special hardware?
No. It works with any phone: you tap in the bib and the time is recorded. Every checkpoint has its own link and QR.
How many split points can I create?
As many as you want (5K, 10K, finish…). Each with its own time and live ranking.
Can I time the race myself with a phone?
Yes. With the mobile timing module you set up checkpoints with QR codes and tap bib numbers from any phone; the times feed straight into the live results. You can also keep using your timing company and publish their results.
What if several runners finish at the same time?
You freeze the time, calmly type in every bib in the group and save them all on that same split time.
What if the coverage drops during the race?
No problem: with the screen already open, if the signal cuts out your marks are saved on the phone itself and sent on their own the moment it's back, each with its exact time. The only requirement is having opened the screen with a signal at the start (with no internet at all, the link won't even load). For a point that's completely cut off, take the times there and enter them by hand from the panel afterwards.
Do my volunteers have to install an app?
Not necessarily. They can open the link (or scan the QR) in their phone's browser and start timing.
Are the results published automatically?
Finish times and split times go straight to your event's public results (shown by the Results module).
